McNeil Point Trail

July 30, 2003
Jane Halling led the group of Tryon Creek Daytrippers today.  Beginning at the Top Spur trail, we went around the south side of Bald Mountain.  Then we crossed over the ridge back to Trail 600 and on to the meadow just short of Cairn Basin, where we could enjoy the immense display of wildflowers.

Fortunately, at this elevation, the heat of the day was significantly less than it was back in town, where it established a new record.  But the cars had no shade and were like ovens when we returned to the trailhead.

The vistas along this trail are always great, and it was nice to enjoy them once more!  Thanks, Jane!
