Bayocean (Tillamook Spit)

April 26, 2007
The Lake Oswego Hikers walked approximately 8 miles today on the Tillamook Sand Spit, where once there was an attempt to develop a large resort complex called "Bayocean."  Rich showed us pictures of the development taken back in the early 1900's, and they were impressive.  But the forces of the ocean changed all the plans and eventually destroyed the entire project.  Thank you, Rich Conser, for leading and providing all that information.
We met military groups put here to develop survival skills.  We met a little seal stranded and hungry. We met a second hiking group, from the Chemeketans of Salem.
